Where, When, What and Who?
Where?
Bristol, Rhode Island- a town just an hour south of Boston and 30 minutes from Providence and Newport, Rhode Island. We'll gather on the edge of the harbor in the gorgeous Waterfront Pavilion at the Bristol Harbor Inn for our Summit on Monday, May 6th and the morning of May 7th.
On the afternoon of the 7th — you'll have the option to join us in Newport Harbor for an exciting private sail on an America's Cup boat! You can also enjoy a tour of the Newport mansions or the Cliff Walk.
When?
May 6 & 7, 2024
- Travel to Bristol on May 5th for an informal sunset gathering on the roof deck of Thames Waterside Bar & Grill
- May 6th all-day & 7th morning: Speakers, panel discussions, unique interactive experiences & workshops.
- May 7 afternoon: Sail with us on an America's Cup Boat in Newport harbor (optional add-on), or take the Cliff Walk or tour the Newport Mansions.

Best-selling author, Joyce Maynard
Joyce is a best-selling author and an "accidental innkeeper." Despite a series of devastating life disruptions, including the loss of her late-in-life, love-of-her-life to cancer, she has always followed her heart, embraced adventure & flexed her resilience muscle. She lives creatively and has shaped a truly unique and inspiring life.
Joyce began publishing her stories in magazines when she was thirteen years old. She first came to national attention with the publication of her New York Times cover story, “An Eighteen Year Old Looks Back on Life”, in 1972, when she was a freshman at Yale. Since then, she has been a reporter and columnist for The New York Times, a syndicated newspaper columnist whose “Domestic Affairs” column appeared in over fifty papers nationwide, a regular contributor to NPR and national magazines including Vogue, The New York Times Magazine, and many more.
She is a longtime performer with The Moth. Joyce is the author of eighteen books, including the New York Times bestselling novel, Labor Day and To Die For (both adapted for film), Under the Influence and the memoirs, At Home in the World and The Best of Us. Her latest novels, Count the Ways —the story of a marriage and a divorce, and the children who survived it— was published by William Morrow in July, 2021, and The Bird Hotel (Arcade Publishing) was published May 2, 2023. Joyce leads writing workshops in New Hampshire and in Guatemala, on Lake Atitlan, where she has created a magical retreat center — Casa Paloma.

Movie screening of Melissa Davey's latest film "Climbing Into Life" (with introduction by Melissa, a "third act" filmmaker). This inspiring film is a soon to be released feature-length documentary detailing the inspiring life story of Dierdre Wolownick, the mother of Free Solo’s Alex Honnold.
Tuesday afternoon's America's Cup Sailing adventure. Experience the thrill of sailing on an America's Cup boat on Newport harbor for an unforgettable afternoon on the water! (option available to the first 24 women who sign up)

What's a "quest?"
“Quest” is an evocative word. It brings to mind a journey, an enterprise where the hero seeks something meaningful… the Holy Grail, true love, the truth.
It’s a grand adventure.
In medieval times, the hero’s quest required conscious intention, intuition, resilience, tolerance of uncertainty, wisdom, courage, curiosity, creativity and most important of all —action. Questers put aside fear, uncertainty, and self-doubt. They ignored their foes and endured challenges to ensure the success of their seeking journey.
For us, in our 50’s and beyond, our "third act quest" requires those same virtues. Like finding the Holy Grail, the journey of envisioning and living your third act can be the most exciting time of your life.
It’s your time to unearth passions and dreams that may have been buried or overshadowed… to remember and reclaim parts of yourself that are waiting to be unleashed!
QUEST 2024 is our first annual Third Act Summit. It will be an unforgettable, gathering of third act women for inspiration, friendship and fun.
