50 After 50: Reframing the Next Chapter of Your Life

By Maria Leonard Olsen

Invigorate life with an action list!

EXCITING MIDLIFE BLUEPRINT FOR THOSE SEEKING

PASSION AND HAPPINESS

“An inspiring read for those who are in or have passed through middle age.”

– Library Journal

Maria Leonard Olsen has transformed turning 50 into an igniting point for women. Her new release, 50 After 50: Reframing the Next Chapter of Your Life (Rowman & Littlefield, June 2018) is the match to spark the fire. Spiritually and emotionally rudderless at the midpoint in her life, Olsen turned her pain of recovering from alcoholism, getting divorced, surviving childhood abuse, and overcoming her insecurities around being mistaken for the brown skinned “help” into a quest to discover parts of herself not yet known. She set out to do 50 new things that were significant – at least to her – and aims to guide readers toward building their own action lists to make the most of this exciting next chapter in their lives.

Olsen explains, “In trying 50 new things, I learned more about myself than perhaps I'd learned in the first 50 years. By sharing my experience, I want to shine a spotlight on what women can do and learn in this important phase of our lives when our familial responsibilities typically diminish, and we are able to explore what truly makes each one of us whole and happy.”

On what she hopes 50 After 50 can do for others, Olsen says, “At 50, happiness for me means contentment, serenity and peace—with some definite spice mixed in! I hope it inspires other women to drink fully from the cup of life, maybe even earlier than I did.”

Serving as a guidebook for those asking “What’s next?”, 50 After 50 teaches readers:

●     Tips for your own action lists, whether it be joining a knitting club or hiking the Himalayas

●     The first steps to taking ownership of your own happiness

●     The importance of self-care and dropping the rock of judgment, especially during the evolving chapters of life

●     Her 50 things that led to transformation—from random acts of kindness to thrill seeking adventure, worldwide travel and even motorcycles!

●     Advice for those nearing 50, and what she wishes she could tell her 25-year-old self

●     And much more!
